Job description

Filo Mortgage, L.L.C. is seeking a Senior Mortgage Underwriter to join our team. This position is fully remote and is a full-time, regular W-2 position. The incumbent must have both DE and SAR designations and extensive experience underwriting VA, FHA, and conventional loans. In this role, you will evaluate borrower income, analyze credit reports and debt information, determine and review assets and collateral, and review mortgage files to ensure they meet investor requirements.

Responsibilities

• Analyze information from multiple sources to perform a thorough evaluation and assessment of each borrower, including credit, income, and assets.
• Analyze appraisals to ensure compliance with guidelines and that the values are supported.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of agency and government underwriting guidelines.
• Be a detail-oriented team player capable of making loan decisions and collaborating with teammates to structure loans for approval while minimizing risk.
• Own the credit decision process from initial underwriting submission through to clear to close.
• Monitor the mortgage pipeline to ensure closing dates are met.
• Stay informed of current trends in mortgage lending and market factors affecting mortgage risk.

• Two- or four-year college degree or completion of a specialized course in business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

• Experience analyzing pay stubs, W-2s, tax returns, and profit and loss statements
• Experience with DU and LP
• Strong analytical, auditing, research, and decision-making abilities
