Job summary

Citizens is seeking a seasoned Senior Mortgage Underwriter within the Home Mortgage Quality Control Department. The role focuses on re-underwriting, reviewing underwriting decisions, appraisals, and legal documents to ensure strict policy and regulatory compliance.

You will alternate between Pre-Funding and Post-Closing reviews, meeting productivity targets while maintaining high accuracy and adherence to SOPs. Strong communication and MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 7+ years underwriting experience with in-depth knowledge of manual underwriting guidelines.
• Advanced knowledge of complex underwriting for high/ultra-high net worth borrowers, including analysis of multiple businesses, large real estate portfolios and assets.
• Solid understanding of consumer mortgage lending processes and workflows through post-closing.
• Familiarity with secondary & private investor loan programs.
• Strong written and oral communication, organizational and analytical skills.
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and database applications.
• Experience with ACES, Empower and/or Encompass is a plus.
• Ability to manage change and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Re-underwrite and review monthly QC selections to ensure guideline compliance.
• Verify input accuracy of conditions and ensure conditions are satisfied.
• Review appraisals for soundness and determine need for review appraisal.
• Check legal documents for accuracy and completeness.
• Perform targeted assurance reviews and related credit/quality control tasks.
• Alternate between Pre-Funding and Post-Closing reviews as required.
