Job summary

NCSECU in Raleigh, NC is seeking an Experienced Mortgage Loan Specialist responsible for the full real estate loan process across all delivery channels. This role generates referrals from Realtors, builders, and colleagues and ensures compliant, timely loan origination and servicing.

The candidate will assess creditworthiness, verify income, and determine loan decisions within approved limits, while guiding members through prequalification, application, underwriting, and closings.

Qualifications

• Experience in real estate loan origination and servicing.
• Underwriting and credit decision authority within lending limits.
• Strong communication with members, Realtors, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Receive and assist in completing real estate loan applications, as the primary contact for applicants during origination.
• Independently assess and underwrite real estate loan applications including credit, repayment ability, collateral, and risk.
• Evaluate income documentation to inform approvals or denials.
• Counsel home buyers and obtain required documentation for initial loan approval.
• Stay updated on lending policies, market trends, and regulations.
• Assist with servicing existing mortgages and home equity loans.
• Coordinate with Loan Administration and Real Estate Lending Processing Center for closings.
• Maintain knowledge of lending products and regulatory standards.
• Educate members on services and cross-sell Credit Union products.
