Job summary

SECU in Shallotte, NC seeks an Experienced Mortgage Loan Specialist to own the full real estate loan process across delivery channels. You will assess creditworthiness, determine rates, and guide applicants from application to closing with clear, professional communication.

You will stay current on market trends, lending policies, and regulatory changes, collaborate with leadership and branches, and help grow mortgage volume while upholding SECU’s core values and member-first philosophy.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years mortgage lending experience preferred.
Completion of Real Estate Lending (RELP) courses and exam.
Wires, Credit Cards, Estate Basics, FAS Overview, Life Stages & Events modules.
Must be able to communicate effectively with members and partners.
Must be organized and detail-oriented; proficient with loan origination software.

Responsibilities

Receive and assist in completing real estate loan applications as primary contact during origination.
Underwrite and assess creditworthiness, collateral value, and risk within lending limits.
Verify income documents and support informed approval or denial decisions.
Counsel homebuyers and maintain thorough loan history notes in LOS.
Assist with mortgage closings and liaison with Real Estate Lending Processing Center.
Stay updated on market trends, rates, and policy changes.
Collaborate with RELO VP/SVP on training and loan approvals.
Support branch staff with mortgage lending needs and referrals.
