Job summary

The Laboratory Technologist III at Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) will perform advanced molecular laboratory work under the direction of the Principal Investigator or supervisor, contributing to the development and validation of ctDNA-based assays and high-complexity workflows.

You will document experiments, manage data, and ensure compliance with IRB and other regulatory protocols while collaborating with internal and external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology, microbiology, biochemistry or closely related field and relevant experience in a clinical or research lab
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant laboratory experience, preferably in academic/ translational/ biotech setting
• Demonstrated experience with NGS, ddPCR, liquid handling/automation platforms, and related molecular assays
• Strong organizational and project management skills

Responsibilities

• Conduct experiments for research projects and carry out molecular laboratory experiments focusing on ctDNA-based assays
• Perform specialized molecular examinations for development and validation of advanced assays for low-frequency variant detection
• Document all research activities in ELN notebooks and update data analyses; follow IRB/ACUC and regulatory protocols
• Generate reports to evaluate project progress and performance
• Develop and implement policies and protocols to support laboratory scalability, reproducibility, and quality
• Assist in purchasing and inventory management for supplies and reagents
• Prepare reports to advise investigators on potential future projects and experimental designs
