Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, Inc. in Cambridge, MA seeks a Principal Scientist I to lead assay development in the Molecular Histology Laboratory, focusing on IHC, multiplex IHC, ISH/RNAscope, and digital pathology.

You will partner with pathologists and project teams, optimize automated staining platforms (Ventana ULTRA, Leica BOND), ensure data quality and regulatory compliance, and drive innovation in tissue‑based biomarker assessment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of directly relevant laboratory experience.
• Extensive hands-on IHC, multiplex IHC/Immunofluorescence, ISH RNAscope.
• Experience developing and troubleshooting tissue-based assays.
• Experience with automated staining platforms such as Ventana ULTRA and Leica BOND.
• Strong attention to detail and data integrity.

Responsabilités

• Develop, optimize, validate, and implement tissue-based assays including IHC and ISH.
• Act as a molecular histology SME evaluating antibodies, probes, and controls.
• Operate and optimize Ventana ULTRA and Leica BOND systems.
• Develop automated workflows and troubleshoot assay performance.
• Use digital pathology workflows and image analysis for data management.
• Maintain records in electronic systems and prepare technical reports.
• Collaborate with pathologists and multidisciplinary teams on projects.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and adoption of new technologies.
• Ensure laboratory safety and compliance with data integrity standards.
