Job summary

Baylor Genetics in Houston, TX is seeking a Molecular Genetics Technologist III to perform routine, moderate-, and high-complexity molecular laboratory testing with a high degree of independence to support the diagnosis and treatment of genetic diseases.

The Technologist III demonstrates advanced technical proficiency, strong analytical judgment, and consistent accuracy while ensuring compliance with laboratory quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or higher in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related chemical, physical, or biological science field from an accredited institution required.
• 4-6 Years relevant experience in regulated clinical laboratory testing environments
• Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, quality control (QC), and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare reagents, controls, and calibrators, and monitor instrument performance.
• Document test results accurately in LIMS and laboratory records.
• Perform and document routine equipment/instrument maintenance, calibration/function checks, and preventive maintenance per SOP.
• Maintain laboratory compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Train or assist new technologists in standard workflows.
• Escalate unusual results, significant deviations, or complex issues to senior staff or supervisors.
• Participate in ongoing training, competency assessments, and proficiency testing as assigned.
• Performs other duties as required
