Job summary

Baylor Genetics in Houston, TX is seeking a Molecular Genetics Technologist II, Library to perform routine, moderate-to-high complexity molecular tests under general supervision, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance while supporting workflow and mentoring junior staff.

The role requires a BA/BS in Medical Technology or related field, with experience in regulated clinical labs, knowledge of instrumentation and QC, and preferred MT/ASCP credentials.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field from an accredited institution.
• Expected: >1 year of relevant experience for BSc or 0–1 year for MSc.
• Experience in regulated clinical laboratory testing environments.
• Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, quality control, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform routine and moderate-complexity testing in accordance with SOPs.
• Interpret instrument flags and alerts; perform initial troubleshooting and escalate complex issues.
• Prepare reagents, controls, and calibrators; monitor instrument performance.
• Accurately document test results and activities in LIMS and laboratory records.
• Perform and document QC for assays, instruments, and reagents; verify QC acceptability.
• Maintain compliance with laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Train and support junior technologists in standard workflows and procedures.
