Job summary

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a foundational understanding of lab instrumentation and testing workflows.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and testing workflows.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs precisely.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine clinical testing per validated SOPs and applicable regulatory requirements (CAP, CLIA, NY).
• Prepare reagents, controls, and calibrators; perform instrument setup and maintain stock levels.
• Accurately document test results and activities in LIMS and laboratory records.
• Conduct QC checks, monitor assay performance, and report deviations or issues to supervisors.
• Troubleshoot assay and instrument issues under guidance and escalate as needed.
• Perform and document routine equipment maintenance, calibration, and preventive maintenance per SOP; place equipment out of service when performance is out of specification.
• Initiate and document corrective actions for QC failures, instrument malfunctions, specimen discrepancies, and other nonconformances.
• Adhere to laboratory safety, contamination control, biohazard protocols, and 5S standards.
• Support operational continuity by maintaining organized workflows and adapting to changing priorities.
• Participate in training, competency assessments, proficiency testing, and assist in training new employees as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned
