Job summary

Blue Origin in Seattle is seeking an experienced engineer to design, validate, and upgrade the simulation infrastructure used to train launch crews for New Glenn. You will work on real-time software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop models, and collaborate across guidance, control, aerodynamics, propulsion, and mechanical teams.

Qualifications

  • Educational and work experience: Bachelor's degree in aerospace, computer science, electrical, or mechanical engineering, physics, or related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of dynamic modeling, including multi-body dynamics, gas dynamics, fluids, thermodynamics.
  • Experience with Windows, Linux, Python, real time operating systems, serial communications, IP networking, and embedded systems.
  • Strong software and model development skills, particularly in MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Python.
  • Highly organized and capable of cross‑functional collaboration across domains.
  • Hands‑on experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing and test development.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, implement, and revise software design and programming of mathematical models for training and procedure development.
  • Develop and implement simulation architectures for real-time SIL and HIL testing.
  • Develop and maintain model documentation and databooks.
  • Document and assist engineers across the company in developing products to implement Blue’s simulations.
  • Support systems analysis with cross‑functional collaboration on system‑level decisions.
  • Assist in developing verification and validation procedures for model products.
  • Support development and execution of component‑level test programs including on‑site testing and post‑test analysis.
  • Support launch crew trainings by preparing and operating the simulator during training sessions.
