Stanley Black & Decker in Towson, MD, is seeking a Lead Engineer – Model-Based Design, Systems Verification & Validation to join our Electronics & Electrical team on a hybrid schedule. You will lead MBVD activities, build system models, support requirements decomposition, and connect simulation results to validation plans across cross-functional teams.

The role requires a strong MBD background, extensive MATLAB/Simulink expertise, and experience with verification and validation across

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Systems/Controls Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of engineering experience in model-based design, systems engineering, or V&V.
• Strong experience with MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow/Ansys.
• Solid understanding of MBVD principles and simulation-driven development.
• Experience with requirements traceability, test planning, and model-to-test correlation.
• Experience working across cross-functional teams including development, testing, and integration.
• Ability to translate system requirements into model structures and verification logic.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support model-based design activities for electrical/electronic systems.
• Develop and maintain system and subsystem models using MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow and related tools.
• Define and execute verification and validation strategies linking requirements, models, simulations, and tests.
• Define test cases, expected behaviors, and model-to-test correlation methods.
• Collaborate with systems, controls, firmware, hardware, validation, and quality teams.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to design and verification reviews.
• Support MIL, SIL, and HIL workflows to improve verification coverage.
• Identify root causes from discrepancies between simulations and tests.
