Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Supervisory Mobility Transportation Specialist - Mobility Manager to lead the Veterans Transportation System and Beneficiary Travel programs.

Qualifications

• Requires at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the Federal Service with knowledge of transportation functions.
• Experience in fleet management and/or common carrier transportation.
• Time-in-Grade requirements apply to current Federal employees and Veterans' Employment Opportunities Act appointments.

Responsibilities

• Manages all Veterans Transportation System (VTS) and Beneficiary Travel (BT) program activities, including patient transport, SMT, mileage reimbursement claims, contracts, ambulance claims, inter-facility transfers, and common carrier transport.
• Supervises VTS/BT processes to ensure regulatory compliance and program effectiveness.
• Serves as Contracting Officer Representative for all transportation contracts (common carrier, SMT, ambulance, air ambulance).
• Coordinates with state Veterans and Transportation Agencies and local providers to expand transportation networks.
• Manages the transportation program at the facility to provide safe, reliable transport to Veterans and authorized non-VA appointments.
• Plans, develops, evaluates, markets, and directs administrative activities for transportation systems serving Veterans and other groups.
• Prepares performance reports, briefings, and other management documents.
• Provides supervision, guidance, and training to staff; handles leave, performance, and work procedures.
• Ensures licenses and training for transportation staff are current.
