Job summary

Vervint is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test to lead mobile test automation for React Native apps, focusing on end-to-end coverage. You will work remotely on a 4-month contract, author tests with Detox and Jest, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities include building scalable test suites, CI/CD integration, and mentoring QA members on automation best practices, while delivering reliable quality metrics across iOS/Android

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in test automation design, development, and implementation for web and/or mobile applications.
• Strong programming skills in TypeScript or JavaScript; comfort reading React/React Native application code.
• Hands-on experience authoring native mobile UI automation with Detox, Appium, XCUITest, or Espresso/EarlGrey.
• 5 years of manual testing experience.
• Experience running mobile tests against iOS simulators and Android emulators, locally and in CI.
• Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Bitrise, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, or similar).
• Demonstrated analytical skills using various tools and data sources.
• Demonstrated efficiency working on cross-functional teams of 8 or more, including Project Manager and Software Developers.
• Demonstrated ability to apply standardized software quality processes.
• Familiarity with various testing methods and SDLC/Agile delivery.

Responsibilities

• Author and maintain end-to-end automated tests for React Native mobile applications using Detox and Jest.
• Read and navigate application source code (TypeScript/React) to understand feature behavior and build reliable, well-targeted tests.
• Develop maintainable, scalable, and readable test suites organized by feature and screen.
• Build and maintain visual/snapshot regression coverage across platforms (iOS/Android) and themes (light/dark).
• Validate app behavior against mocked services and device-simulation layers, including connected-product flows (Bluetooth/BLE).
• Identify and document clear defects, and link automated tests to test-case management (Jira/Xray).
• Develop and maintain test plans based on documented requirements and designs.
• Keep automated tests running reliably in CI (Bitrise/Bitbucket pipelines), diagnosing and reducing flakiness.
• Develop best practices and mentor other QA members on automation skills.
• Generate meaningful estimates for automated and manual test work.
• Prepare and present findings, reports, and metrics.
• Stay up to date with new testing tools and strategies.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Software Developers, Project Managers, and UX Designers to ensure project execution.
