Job summary

Procore's Mobile Engineering team is seeking a Solution Architect/Senior Principal Software Engineer to define and drive the mobile and cross‑platform strategy across iOS, Android, and backend services. You will shape architecture, mentor senior engineers, and hands-on prototype critical decisions, including Kotlin Multiplatform and GraphQL BFF patterns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or related field or comparable work experience.
• 15+ years of software engineering, with 5+ years at principal level or above across mobile, cloud, and backend.
• Deep expertise in native mobile development (Swift/iOS, Kotlin/Java/Android) and modern backend/cloud stacks (Ruby on Rails, Java, Go, Node.js; GraphQL, REST).
• Hands-on experience with cross-platform mobile architecture (Kotlin Multiplatform) and GraphQL federation/BFF patterns.
• Broad exposure to offline-first sync, CI/CD, observability, and security posture; depth in at least one area.
• Track record of defining multi-year technical strategies and driving platform initiatives at scale.
• Bias toward writing code and hands-on proofs-of-concept to de-risk decisions.
• Interest or hands-on experience in AI-native engineering within SDLC or products.
• Exceptional judgment navigating ambiguity and driving stakeholder-aligned decisions.
• Strong communication and influence skills across engineering, product, and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Own the multi-year technical vision and architecture for Procore's mobile platform across iOS, Android, cross-platform logic, and the GraphQL BFF layer.
• Set architecture standards and patterns to reduce duplication across platforms.
• Shape strategy for offline-first sync, CI/CD, observability, and security posture as first-class concerns.
• Define API contracts and data ownership boundaries between mobile and backend.
• Mentor Principal and Staff engineers and lead architecture reviews and strategy sessions.
• Collaborate with backend, platform, and infra teams to ensure scalable cloud services for mobile.
• Prototype high-risk architectural bets and write production-quality code and docs.
• Partner with engineering leadership to translate strategy into a durable roadmap.
