Job summary

Texas Oncology Kerrville is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to join a fast-paced, team-oriented lab. The MLS will perform moderate to high complexity testing, maintain QC, and aid in patient care with timely results.

This role includes phlebotomy, specimen handling, and instrument maintenance, with opportunities to train staff and assist the supervisor as needed. Hours are 8:30a-5:00p, with no nights or weekends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related health care field.
• Current state license if required.
• AMT, ASCP or equivalent certification preferred.
• Position is entry level and requires no experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate and high complexity testing with quality control and QC documentation.
• Phlebotomy and specimen collection as ordered, with proper pre-authorization when required.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and record maintenance logs.
• Prepare peripheral blood smears and perform WBC differential analyses.
• Process in-house and send-out specimens; notify supervisor of issues.
• Train staff in laboratory procedures and act as a resource when needed.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related health care field

Associate’s Degree + Four (4) years of related work experience

Eight (8) years of related work experience
