Job summary

Deploy Alloy is seeking a Search Engineer (Software Engineer III) to own end-to-end development of AI-powered search systems. You will design Python backends, build ML inference pipelines, and craft frontend components, while collaborating with ML and Search Architects on hybrid retrieval architectures.

You’ll deploy scalable services on GCP, apply best practices in CI/CD, and mentor junior engineers in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of backend or full-stack engineering experience with Python/React focus.
• Strong Python and React foundation with production-grade service design.
• Cloud-native experience; GCP preferred; AWS/Azure acceptable.
• Hands-on experience building resilient microservices and RESTful/gRPC APIs.
• Solid understanding of containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Experience with CI/CD and IaC practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy production Python services end-to-end—from retrieval and ranking pipelines through client-facing APIs.
• Build and integrate ML inference pipelines: embeddings, transformer classifiers, LLM-powered query understanding, and reranking services.
• Develop event-driven architectures on GCP: Cloud Run, Pub/Sub, GKE, Cloud Functions.
• Write clean, tested Python backends and own services through deployment, monitoring, and on-call.
• Drive frontend architecture decisions and create reusable component libraries.
• Collaborate with Search Architect and ML Architect on hybrid retrieval systems.
• Build and maintain Elasticsearch indexing pipelines, query services, and relevance tooling.
• Integrate vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, FAISS) into retrieval workflows.
• Instrument search pipelines with metrics and contribute to A/B experiments.
• Produce production-ready interfaces from wireframes or designs.
• Champion CI/CD, observability, testing, and IaC as non-negotiables.
• Lead design sessions and translate product requirements into maintainable technical solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing to raise the team's skill.
