Job summary

Atlassian in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer for the Search & Intelligence organization. You will build and productionize ML systems powering AI-native experiences, owning projects from problem definition to deployment.

You will collaborate with product managers, software engineers, data scientists, and platform teams while mentoring others and advancing evaluation-driven development for high-quality AI solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree in CS/ML/Data Science or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years building and deploying ML/AI systems in production.
• Strong Python skills; experience with Java, Kotlin, or TypeScript.

Responsibilities

• Build and productionize ML models and AI systems for search and intelligence products.
• Own projects from concept through deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• Develop AI-native experiences across search, ranking, and conversational systems.
• Design evaluation-driven development processes with metrics, tests, benchmarks, and acceptance criteria.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to ML best practices.
