Job summary

Expedia Group in Austin is seeking a Machine Learning Scientist II to own complex projects within the Whole Trip AI team. You will design end-to-end model pipelines for ranking, recommendations, and search, and build scalable data pipelines with robust monitoring to ensure reliable production systems.

You will collaborate with product managers, engineers, and scientists to translate business needs into well-scoped ML projects, using A/B testing and evaluation frameworks to drive data-driven

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience applying machine learning or statistical modeling to real business problems, including end-to-end model development from data exploration through evaluation and deployment.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks and libraries for model development, training, and evaluation.
• Ability to translate problem statements into well-defined ML tasks and own solutions within a product/feature area, including familiarity with AI-driven systems and safety considerations.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement end-to-end model pipelines across multiple product domains (ranking, recommendations, search, personalization).
• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines, data quality checks, and model monitoring for production ML systems.
• Collaborate with product, analytics, and engineering to translate business needs into ML projects and communicate findings with data-driven insights.
• Use A/B tests and offline/online evaluation frameworks to measure model impact and guide iterative improvement.
