Job summary

Expedia Group is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the Distribution & Supply team in Seattle. You will design, build, and scale ML systems that power travel supply, pricing, and visibility across Expedia Group’s marketplace.

You will own end-to-end ML features from problem framing to deployment, collaborate with product and engineering teams, and improve model reliability and observability in production environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language used for ML (Python or Java) with understanding of core software engineering concepts, system design, APIs, data modeling, and ML fundamentals.
• Experience with service-oriented or microservice architectures to integrate ML into production systems, APIs, large-scale data pipelines, reliability, scalability, and security.
• Hands-on experience operating ML workflows in production, monitoring data health, incident response, and improvements based on results.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and evolve robust, scalable ML systems and services, including system design, API design, and data modeling.
• Own end-to-end delivery of ML features and platforms from framing to deployment and monitoring.
• Collaborate with product, data, and engineering teams to translate business problems into ML solutions and productionize them.
• Improve model and system quality, reliability, and performance through experimentation, observability, and security best practices.
• Mentor engineers and data practitioners, guiding modeling, code reviews, and ML engineering practices across teams.
• Safely integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions with familiarity with AI-driven systems and workflows.
