Job summary

Wayfair is seeking an experienced Machine Learning Scientist III to join our content recommendations team. You will build and optimize ML-based recommender systems that power image/content recommendations and personalization across Wayfair.

As part of the SMART team, you will collaborate with ML scientists, engineers, and product teams to deploy state-of-the-art models at scale, improving customer engagement and driving business value.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and deploying ML models for recommendations.
• Strong ML theory and practice for large-scale systems.
• Production experience with ML pipelines and cloud environments.
• Proficiency in Python and common ML frameworks.
• Ability to run experiments and analyze results with data-driven decisions.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize recommendation models powering personalized experiences.
• Research ML methods to improve recommender systems and ranking.
• Build scalable ML pipelines for training, evaluation, and inference.
• Collaborate with engineers to deploy models in production addressing latency.
• Analyze performance using A/B tests and offline metrics.
• Contribute to open-source ML frameworks and stay current with research.
• Identify opportunities to improve personalization strategies.
