Job summary

Wayfair is seeking a Machine Learning Scientist III to shape the roadmap of our Agentic Curation and Assortment Engine. You will build models that capture product relationships, deploy in production, and collaborate across product, engineering, and data science teams.

The role emphasizes scalable ML workflows, LLM-driven validation, and mentorhip of junior scientists, with opportunities to impact 41M+ SKUs and global merchandising strategies.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years with PhD, or 4+ years with MS, or 6+ years with BS in a quantitative STEM field.
• Strong proficiency in Python and the ML ecosystem with PyTorch/XGBoost experience.
• Experience deploying ML models into production with engineering partners and scale.
• Experience building graph relationships and agentic workflows to uncover demand and automate catalog validation.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy ML models to identify relationships between products and optimize the mix.
• Apply representation learning, similarity search, and graph-based methods on multi-modal data.
• Optimize cost, efficiency, and scalability with LoRA/QLoRA, distillation, and hybrid ML approaches.
• Own end-to-end ML projects from problem formulation to production monitoring and iteration.
• Define and track success metrics for product grouping quality and assortment gaps.
• Collaborate with researchers to explore LLMs and scalable ML workflows.
• Develop agentic AI workflows for schema definition and automated catalog validation.
• Mentor junior ML scientists and partner with product managers and engineers.
