Job summary

AppFolio Inc. is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to design and ship next-gen voice and conversational AI agents within Realm-X.

You will help define production voice and chat agent pipelines, collaborating with Product, Voice channel, and ML Platform teams to deliver low-latency, multi-channel experiences for our broad customer base. The role emphasizes deep experience with agent frameworks, voice stacks, and end-to-end AI pipelines, while leading a small pod and shaping KPI-driven

Qualifications

5+ years of experience building and scaling web-based apps, SaaS preferred.
Shipped production AI agents for voice/text channels.
Strong systems thinking beyond models.
Fast learner with impact-focused delivery and sound engineering judgment.
Collaborative, low-ego mindset with teamwork to elevate others.

Responsibilities

Architect and ship voice and text agent pipelines for real-time interactions.
Balance reasoning depth with latency across frontier LLMs and models.
Lead a small pod of ML and platform engineers; improve observability and incident response.
Define KPIs and evaluation harnesses with Product and Voice teams.
Drive targeted fine-tuning and inference optimization for voice latency and cost.
