Job summary

Nuro is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Sensor Data and Calibration team. You will develop synthetic sensor simulation models and ML methods to generate photorealistic images and realistic lidar/radar data.

The role is a Senior/Staff IC with potential to grow into a Tech Lead/TLM, requiring strong ML background, Python, and experience with PyTorch/TensorFlow/Jax, plus cross‑team collaboration across autonomy, infrastructure, and systems teams.

Qualifications

• Deep understanding of ML fundamentals with hands‑on experience in training and evaluating modern ML models.
• Strong Python skills with experience in deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Jax).
• PhD or Master’s degree with relevant industry experience in ML/robotics.
• Experience in synthetic sensor data generation and evaluation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Research, develop, and implement state‑of‑the‑art synthetic sensor simulation methods.
• Analyze and characterize realism and utility of synthetic sensor data.
• Answer critical questions about sensor data and autonomy performance.
• Collaborate with autonomy, infrastructure, and systems teams on map needs and requirements.
• Role scoped as a Senior/Staff IC with growth into Tech Lead/TLM.
