Job summary

Atlassian seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the Rovo Chat Quality team within the Rovo + AI organization. You will own open-ended technical challenges, lead across teams, and shape production ML systems that improve customer trust and product outcomes.

You’ll work hands-on while guiding models, agents, evaluation, and deployment decisions across scale, latency, and safety constraints. This role offers flexible locations, including remote arrangements.

Qualifications

• Experience architecting and shipping large-scale ML/AI systems with measurable impact.
• Deep experience with LLM-powered products, agentic systems, evaluation, and dataset development.
• Strong production engineering skills and hands-on ability in a modern ML stack.
• Proven technical leadership, direction setting, and cross-team influence.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build production ML and evaluation systems at scale, including data, tests, and quality signals.
• Advance agentic capabilities across reasoning, planning, tool use, memory, and long-horizon execution.
• Lead cross-organizational initiatives with ML, engineering, product, analytics, and design partners.
• Make high-leverage technical decisions balancing quality, latency, safety and cost.
• Mentor engineers, review designs, and drive a clear long-term AI product vision.
• Establish reusable methods and standards to raise the bar for AI products.
