Truemed in Austin is seeking a Senior ML Engineer to drive experiments that improve product eligibility classification for HSA/FSA-related decisions. You will design, test, and ship models across prompting, retrieval, and fine-tuning, while extending coverage to new product categories and collaborating with legal and clinical ops.

You should have hands-on ML work with LLMs, strong Python skills, and a track record of rigorous experiments, with ownership from research to production.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering or applied research experience, with at least 2 years of hands-on work with ML models on real problems.
• Proven track record of rigorous experiments with clear hypotheses, baselines, ablations.
• Comfort with data-heavy ML work and turning results into production decisions.

Responsabilités

• Run experiments to improve classification accuracy and ship winning models to production.
• Design and iterate classifiers across prompting, retrieval, fine-tuning, and multi-model approaches.
• Analyze misclassifications to identify failure modes and guide new experiments.
• Extend evaluation sets and metrics to reflect model performance and ground truth labeling.
• Track new models and research, testing approaches that affect accuracy or cost curves.
• Expand coverage to new product categories as Truemed grows.
• Identify new applications for models and prototype them for feasibility.
• Collaborate with clinical ops and legal to translate standards into labeled data and testable behavior.
• Document results to guide evidence-based model decisions and raise AI fluency in engineering team.
