Job summary

AZX is seeking a Senior ML Engineer to build reusable ML libraries and the underlying simulation engine powering utility-focused AI projects. You will develop tools for forecasting, disaggregation, demand response, and asset health, while ensuring robust validation and documentation.

You will own Rust crates and Python bindings, integrate with real-time grid data, and collaborate with client teams to adapt solutions in field deployments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years shipping applied ML on real-world signals.
• Strong numerical and scientific computing skills: feature engineering from raw interval data and solver-level numerics.
• Proficiency in Python and a systems language; Rust is a plus.
• Build library-grade, versioned APIs with good documentation.
• Willingness to do data engineering: find, clean, join, profile inputs.
• Fluent with Python 3.12+ stack (numpy, pandas/polars, scikit-learn, statsmodels) and SQL/Postgres or TimescaleDB.

Responsibilities

• Own reusable ML libraries for forecasting, disaggregation, demand response, detection, and asset health.
• Create tested libraries with validation harnesses for client deployments.
• Own the simulation engine (Rust crates and Python bindings) and its validation.
• Own the grid-data toolkits, including codec implementations and synthetic data generators.
• Develop planning and dispatch support for demand-response programs.
• Own the publish path with versioned crates and Python packages.
• Maintain feedback loop with client pods to improve capabilities.
