Job summary

AZX is a Seattle-area focused, remote-friendly company building AI-powered climate solutions. We are seeking a Senior ML Engineer to develop reusable ML libraries and the building-energy simulation engine used across utility client engagements.

You will own end-to-end capabilities from data processing to evaluation, contributing to open-source components and collaborating with engineers across client projects. Strong Python and Rust skills are essential, with experience in energy domains a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years shipping applied ML on real-world signals.
• Strong numerical and scientific computing skills: feature engineering and solver-level numerics.
• Proficiency in Python and Rust; ability to work across both ecosystems; Rust is teachable here.

Responsibilities

• Own reusable ML libraries for forecasting, disaggregation, demand response, detection, and asset health with evaluation harnesses.
• Build capabilities once as tested libraries with validation harnesses for client deployments.
• Own the simulation engine — Rust crates and Python bindings — with performance validation against a reference oracle.
• Own the grid-data toolkits: protocol codecs, synthetic scenario generators, and verification utilities.
• Build planning and dispatch support for demand-response programs.
• Own the publish path — versioned crates and Python packages with documented evidence.
• Track field feedback and translate it into next improvements.
