Job summary

At Atlassian is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join the Search & Intelligence organization. You will lead the development and productionization of advanced machine learning systems that improve how people discover, understand, and act on knowledge across Atlassian.

You will collaborate with product managers, software engineers, data scientists, and other technical stakeholders to translate ambiguous product challenges into scalable AI solutions and mentor other ML engineers while

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in CS/ML or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of production ML experience.
• Strong Python and at least one production language.
• Experience with large-scale data and model deployment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of production ML models.
• Own ML projects from concept through production deployment and evaluation.
• Develop scalable data and modeling approaches for large datasets.
• Design robust architectures meeting latency, quality, and cost requirements.
• Work across information retrieval, search, personalization, NLP, and LM applications.
• Design experiments, offline evaluations, online tests, and error analyses to measure impact.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, data science, analytics, and platform teams to integrate AI capabilities.
• Translate research into reliable, production-quality systems.
• Identify opportunities to improve model performance and customer outcomes.
• Communicate decisions and results clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to technical strategy and best practices.
• Promote a culture of experimentation and continuous learning.
