Job summary

Unity is seeking a senior backend engineer for the Advertiser Growth team in New York. You will architect GenAI systems for creative assets, design pacing algorithms for multi-million dollar budgets, and ensure billing pipelines scale with zero-fault tolerance.

You will lead experiments, optimize spend vs performance, and mentor engineers while driving multi-quarter roadmaps in a fast-growing marketplace.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience
• 3+ years working on ads delivery systems
• Proficiency in Java, Go, or Scala and low-latency backend systems
• Experience with budgeting, spend-prediction, or control systems
• Proven track record of building experimentation platforms and metrics design
• Experience with mission-critical pipelines (billing/payments) and fault tolerance
• Knowledge of real-time streaming (Kafka, Flink, Spark) and scalable AI/GenAI workflows

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize pacing controllers to smooth advertiser spend
• Lead backend integration of Generative AI models for asset creation
• Build scalable experimentation engine for high-velocity testing
• Architect high-throughput billing pipelines with high accuracy
• Analyze data to refine spend velocity vs advertiser performance
