Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Mission Systems Engineer to support NSWC Crane and the Mach-TB program. This role provides technical leadership across the full mission lifecycle—from concept to post-mission review—while coordinating with experiment teams, launch providers, and government stakeholders.

The candidate will own mission-level systems engineering, manage stakeholder requirements, and develop V&V plans. Strong writing and briefing skills required; US DoD Secret clearance or eligibility is expected;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or related STEM field
• 10+ years of experience in systems engineering roles
• Requirements development and management
• Verification and validation planning and execution
• System integration and interface management
• Experience supporting flight test programs, hypersonic systems, or space/launch vehicle programs
• Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes and program lifecycle milestones
• Strong technical writing and communication skills; ability to brief senior government and program leadership
• Active DoD Secret clearance (Top Secret preferred or ability to obtain)

Responsibilities

• Lead as primary Systems Engineer for Mach-TB mission, owning technical integrity from concept through post-mission review
• Develop and manage stakeholder requirements with traceability to objectives
• Create and maintain Verification & Validation plans and ensure compliance
• Coordinate integration between payload teams and launch providers
• Review ICDs, interface docs, and integration procedures for compliance
• Identify risks, conflicts, and mitigation actions across multi-experiment missions
• Support reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, IRR, MRR) with actionable feedback
• Engage government customers and program leadership with briefings and status reports
