Qualifications

  • 10+ years of systems engineering experience, 5+ years in the DoD environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior-level systems engineering support for NC3 programs across the lifecycle.
  • Develop, analyze, and maintain system requirements, architectures, and documentation.
  • Lead design, development, integration, verification, validation, and testing activities.
  • Evaluate requirements and solutions to ensure alignment with objectives and standards.
  • Perform technical analysis to identify risks and improvements.
  • Support system architectures, interfaces, and technical baselines.
  • Lead or participate in reviews, IPTs, and program-level meetings.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve complex SE issues.
  • Develop engineering plans, technical reports, and briefings.
  • Review contractor deliverables and provide assessments to leadership.
  • Support system integration and verify interfaces and requirements.
  • Apply SE processes to manage risks throughout the lifecycle.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior staff as needed.
  • Support planning, acquisition, and technical decision-making.
  • Stay current with DoD SE practices and program requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Applied Research Solutions is seeking a Senior Mission Systems Engineer to support critical Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) programs at Hanscom AFB in Bedford, MA. This role will provide systems engineering expertise across complex, mission-critical programs and work closely with government and contractor teams to support system development, integration, and lifecycle activities. An active TS/SCI clearance is required.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Provide senior-level systems engineering support for complex, mission-critical NC3 programs throughout the systems engineering and acquisition lifecycle.
  • Develop, analyze, and maintain system requirements, specifications, architectures, and technical documentation.
  • Lead systems engineering activities supporting system design, development, integration, verification, validation, and testing.
  • Evaluate system requirements and technical solutions to ensure alignment with program objectives, operational needs, and applicable standards.
  • Perform technical analysis and assessments to identify system risks, performance gaps, dependencies, and potential areas for improvement.
  • Support the development and evaluation of system architectures, interfaces, and technical baselines.
  • Lead or participate in technical reviews, working groups, Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), and program-level technical meetings.
  • Coordinate with government stakeholders, program management, engineering teams, contractors, and other technical organizations to resolve complex systems engineering issues.
  • Support the development of engineering plans, technical reports, briefings, and other program documentation.
  • Review contractor deliverables and provide technical assessments and recommendations to government and program leadership.
  • Support system integration activities and help ensure interfaces and requirements are properly defined, documented, and verified.
  • Apply systems engineering processes and methodologies to identify and manage technical risks throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineering personnel as needed.
  • Support program planning, acquisition activities, and technical decision-making through analysis, recommendations, and engineering expertise.
  • Stay current with applicable DoD systems engineering practices, acquisition policies, and program-specific technical requirements.
  • Will perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/ Technical Experience Requirements:
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must have an Active Top Secret Clearance and be SCI eligible
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related professional engineering discipline
  • 10+ years of systems engineering experience, 5 of which must be in the DoD setting

The expected annual salary range: $160k - $173k. Salary is dependent upon the role and associated responsibilities, candidate's experience, and qualifications to include education/training, and key skills.
