Responsibilities

  • Support reviews of program plans, systems engineering activities, baselines and test results to ensure performance meets requirements.
  • Develop, review and maintain systems engineering documentation including technical reports and specifications.
  • Support presentations and briefings related to program planning, implementation and corrective actions.
  • Assist with validation activities, including development and execution of validation criteria and tests.
  • Analyze engineering and test results and provide findings to support decisions.
  • Provide systems engineering support through acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, deployment and operation.
  • Identify technical risks and support risk management activities.

Applied Research Solutions is seeking a Journeyman Mission Systems Engineer to support critical Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) programs at Hanscom AFB in Bedford, MA. This role will provide systems engineering expertise across complex, mission-critical programs and work closely with government and contractor teams to support system development, integration, and lifecycle activities. An active TS/SCI clearance is required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support reviews of program plans, systems engineering activities, technical baselines, and test results to help ensure system and subsystem performance meets approved requirements and specifications.
  • Assist with the development, review, and maintenance of systems engineering documentation, including technical reports, specifications, engineering assessments, and program management reports.
  • Support technical presentations and briefings related to program planning, implementation, engineering activities, and corrective actions.
  • Assist with system and subsystem validation activities, including development and execution of validation criteria, procedures, and test activities.
  • Analyze engineering and test results and provide findings and recommendations to support program and system-level decisions.
  • Provide systems engineering and technical support throughout the acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, deployment, installation, and operational phases of the system lifecycle.
  • Support program and project risk management activities by identifying technical risks, assessing potential impacts, and providing inputs in accordance with Air Force Systems Engineering Assessment Model (SEAM) processes.
  • Support problem and gap definition, trade-space analysis, capability assessments, technology roadmap analysis, and cost-versus-capability evaluations.
  • Assist with concept development activities, including set-based design and Multi-Objective Decision Analysis (MODA), as directed.
  • Support the application of Digital Engineering, Digital Thread, and Digital Twin practices across the system lifecycle.
  • Apply systems engineering principles to system and subsystem activities, including configuration management, data management, security, and technical integration.
  • Support the identification, documentation, and management of system interfaces to facilitate effective integration of multiple subsystems and components.
  • Assist in evaluating system requirements to ensure alignment with user needs and support requirements analysis, system design, development, integration, testing, and evaluation activities.
  • Support capability analyses and the evaluation of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) solutions to assist with component selection and system interface development.
  • Assist with the development and use of models and simulations to assess system performance and demonstrate alignment with user requirements.
  • Support engineering studies involving system performance, cost-effectiveness, reliability, technical and schedule risk, and related trade-offs; document findings in technical reports and presentations.
  • Assist with the identification and resolution of technical issues, system deficiencies, and capability gaps.
  • Support media library activities, technology and system obsolescence tracking, and service desk incident remediation.
  • Collaborate with government and contractor personnel to support technical meetings, working groups, program reviews, and engineering activities.
  • Provide assistance and technical guidance to team members as appropriate and contribute to other engineering tasks as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/ Technical Experience Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Top Secret Security clearance required. Must be SCI eligible
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in technical engineering environment. (Preferably within a DoD structured environment).

All positions at Applied Research Solutions are subject to background investigations. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation including criminal history and identity check.

The expected annual salary range: $118k - $130k. Salary is dependent upon the role and associated responsibilities, candidate's experience, work location and qualifications to include education/training, and key skills.
