Job summary

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a focus on Mission Engineering to lead software development for mission-critical systems. The role is onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA or Sterling, VA, five days a week.

You will design, model, simulate, and integrate software across disciplines, mentoring engineers while ensuring cybersecurity and RTX processes are followed. A STEM degree with 5+ years of experience is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM plus 5+ years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 3+ years.
• Active and transferable SECRET security clearance required before start date.
• Strong proficiency in Python, C++, and software modeling tools (e.g., Simulink, STK).

Responsibilities

• Design and implement mission-critical software systems.
• Model, simulate, and evaluate mission scenarios.
• Define software requirements and architecture with cross-functional teams.
• Optimize algorithms for mission planning and performance analysis.
• Develop modeling and simulation tools (AFSIM, RCADE).
• Perform software integration and testing for reliability.
• Support verification and validation activities.
• Lead trade studies and risk assessments for software tasks.
• Mentor junior engineers and ensure compliance with RTX processes.
