Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Staff Systems Engineer – Mission Analyst to lead mission analysis, constellation design, and orbital mechanics. You will drive system-level trade studies, define architectures, and guide autonomous fleet concepts in a multidisciplinary environment.

You will collaborate with engineering leadership and customers to shape requirements, assess trades, and influence end-to-end mission objectives across lifecycle stages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Astrodynamics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
• 8+ years in mission analysis, orbital mechanics, spacecraft systems, or constellation design.
• Master’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience may be considered.
• Expert in LEO constellation design, lifecycle operations, and mission analysis tool chains.
• Proficient in simulation frameworks and mission analysis tool chains.
• Strong understanding of orbital perturbations and propulsion/drag effects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of mission analysis frameworks, simulation architectures, and modeling tools for LEO constellation design.
• Define constellation architecture, sizing, coverage, and long-term scalability.
• Lead system-level trades and evaluate competing mission architectures and configurations.
• Establish technical baselines for constellation performance and mission design assumptions.
• Provide technical direction and expert review of mission analysis products across programs.
