Job summary

Synopsys, Inc. is seeking a senior expert to build and refine high-fidelity models of threat trajectories and sensor behaviors for air and missile defense simulations.

You will develop radar phenomenology across RF and IR, create realistic synthetic datasets for AI/ML, and integrate signature simulation into STK and AFSIM. You will collaborate with government labs and SMEs to ensure simulation fidelity, support track fusion and sensor integration, and provide technical leadership on modeling

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related field with 10+ years of professional experience, or MS with 8+ years (PhD with 7+ years preferred).
• This position requires a government Top Secret or TS/SCI security clearance. You must be a U.S. citizen for consideration.
• Deep experience in air and missile defense systems, including sensor architectures and threat modeling.
• Strong understanding of sensor phenomenology and signature modeling across RF and IR spectra, with exposure to real-world radar or EO/IR systems and data.
• Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for modeling, scripting, and interfacing with DoD systems.
• Experience with STK and Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM) is highly desirable.
• Ability to travel domestically up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Build and refine high-fidelity models of threat trajectories and missile events within air and missile defense simulations
• Develop radar phenomenology models for various sensor architectures and bands
• Create synthetic datasets for AI/ML training including edge cases to reduce bias
• Integrate signature simulation into frameworks like STK and AFSIM for threat detection and tracking
• Collaborate with government labs and SMEs to ensure simulation fidelity matches real-world behavior
• Support design and implementation of track fusion and sensor integration across complex architectures
• Provide technical leadership on modeling requirements and fidelity standards across programs
