Job summary

SLR Consulting (US) is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer focusing on open pit design, planning, and cost estimation in Salt Lake City. The role centers on mine planning for open pit and underground, with responsibilities including engineering drawings, economic modeling, and reserves reporting.

You will collaborate with geologists and other disciplines, provide client support, and contribute to project estimates and schedules while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining or Geological Engineering.
• Experience in both short term and long term mine planning.
• Proficient in mine design, planning, and scheduling.
• Proficient in 3D Mine Modeling software (Vulcan, Deswik, MineSight).
• Skilled in managing large and complex projects.
• Strong communication and technical writing skills.
• Experience as a Qualified Person (QP).
• Experience mentoring younger professionals.
• Second language in Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Mine planning for open pit (required) and underground.
• Creation of engineering and geologic drawings for reports.
• Cost estimation and economic (DCF) modeling.
• Resources and reserve reporting.
• Flexibility in supporting both engineering and geologic aspects of projects.
• Teamwork with geologists, metallurgists, and other disciplines.
• Provide client support and presentations.
• Prepare operations and project estimates, schedules, and reports.
• Engineering trade-off studies including autonomous vs conventional haulage, equipment selection, open pit vs underground operations.
• Guidance and mentoring for younger Engineers.
