Job summary

Graymont is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to deliver short, medium, and long term mine planning expertise for open pit operations in the Western Region of the USA and Canada. The role reports to the NA Mining and Geology Lead and focuses on optimizing mine planning across multiple quarries.

Based in Sandy, UT with hybrid work, you will collaborate with quarry operations, geology teams and support permitting, reclamation, production data, and cost improvement initiatives across Utah, Nevada,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Eng or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in mine planning/open-pit operations.
• Strong ability to lead technical evaluations and support optimization and automation initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain mine plans for the Western Region and assigned sites.
• Create and update pit designs using internal standards.
• Submit and manage mine permit applications for the regions.
• Generate and review reclamation plans for each site.
• Perform reconciliation to verify reserves and quarry progression.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
• Provide management for blast optimization and fines reduction studies.
• Support quarry automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
