Job summary

Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc. seeks a Project Manager and practice leader specializing in mine permitting, reclamation, and remediation to support growth in the West and Southwest regions of the United States.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior officers, business development leadership, project teams, geoscientists, construction teams, and other technical professionals to drive growth.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering or related degree from an accredited program.
• 7+ years (15 years preferred) of mine permitting, reclamation, remediation and mine infrastructure experience.
• Tailings and heap leach mining experience is a plus.
• Progressive experience in the mining industry.
• Ability to serve as primary client contact and develop client relationships.
• 8 years of leadership experience preferred.
• Resourceful, highly organized, professional with attention to detail and people.

Responsibilities

• Provides engineering technical and management leadership for mine permitting, reclamation, and remediation, including evaluating market conditions and business development.
• Provides creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment for routine and unusual problems.
• Determines program objectives, organizes programs, and develops standards for diverse engineering activities.
• Plans, organizes and implements business development activities for targeted growth markets and accounts.
• Develop project proposals and collaborate with mining leaders to grow the mining practice.
• Coordinate with clients to provide long-term strategic solutions for mine infrastructure.
• Stay involved in industry forums and select sector trade organizations.
• Direct coordination with clients; assist with contract negotiations and preparation.
• Mentor and guide less experienced designers and engineers.
• Interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines, and detailers/designers.
• Prepare construction/installation scopes of work; participate in development of schedules, budgets, staffing.
