Job summary

Burns & McDonnell seeks a senior mine water management professional to lead technical delivery across the mining lifecycle, from permitting through closure, in our Environmental Services Global Practice in Denver.

The role emphasizes client engagement, design integration, and mentoring, with opportunities to shape best practices and grow our mine water capabilities in a collaborative, employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, chemical or mechanical engineering from an accredited program.
  • 13 years of progressive experience in mine water management, water resources, hydrogeology, or related fields.
  • Experience with mine water balance development, surface water and groundwater modeling.
  • Experience interfacing with clients and supporting proposal scoping and cost estimating.
  • Ability to manage or support projects with scope, schedule, budget and financial performance.
  • Experience supporting projects through design and into construction, including constructability reviews.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills for complex analyses.
  • Preferred: Master's degree; PE/PG licensure; experience in permitting, operations, closure from water management perspective.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior technical leadership for mine water management across the mining lifecycle.
  • Lead water balance development, water quality, treatment, reuse, and conservation strategies.
  • Direct hydrologic, hydraulic, and hydrogeologic analyses, modeling and risk-informed assessments.
  • Support design of ponds, impoundments, conveyance systems, treatment systems and water control structures.
  • Participate in constructability reviews and integrated design efforts with construction means and schedules.
  • Interface with clients, explain technical concepts, and guide decision-making.
  • Mentor engineers, contribute to internal tools, standards and best practices.
