Job summary

AlphaGov is seeking a Senior Architectural Millwork Engineer to lead the technical design and engineering of high-end custom millwork projects from concept through fabrication and installation.

This role translates architectural plans and field measurements into production-ready drawings and engineering packages, mentoring junior engineers and drafters while advancing standards, efficiency, and finished product quality.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of architectural millwork engineering experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, AlphaCAM, Rhino, KCD.
• Experience mentoring engineers or drafters; leading technical teams.
• Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering and technical development of custom millwork projects from initial design through manufacturing and installation.
• Prepare, review, and approve detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, bills of materials, cut lists, and production documentation.
• Interpret architectural plans, design specs, client requirements, and field measurements to develop accurate engineering packages.
• Engineer custom cabinetry, closets, architectural casework, wall paneling, ceilings, countertops, and specialty woodwork.
• Evaluate designs for manufacturability, material selection, hardware compatibility, joinery methods, and installation requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, designers, estimators, CNC programmers, production personnel, and installation teams to ensure technical accuracy.
• Identify and resolve design conflicts, dimensional discrepancies, and fabrication challenges before production begins.
• Support CNC programming, nesting optimization, and manufacturing planning to improve material utilization and production efficiency.
• Maintain accurate engineering records and ensure drawings comply with standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and drafters.
• Support quality control throughout engineering, fabrication, and field installation.
• Develop practical engineering solutions for complex millwork applications.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, drawing standards, and manufacturing performance.
• Coordinate engineering revisions and communicate changes to stakeholders.
