Job summary

BigBear.ai is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design and maintain middleware that powers authentication, authorization, and integration services across customer environments. You’ll own middleware reliability and security.

You will build Java/Spring Boot microservices, work with NoSQL stores, lead incident response, mentor engineers, and collaborate with DevOps during deployment. Telework may be possible after onboarding.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with Poly clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, CS, or related field with 12+ years of software experience (16 total with substitution).
• Proven Java/Spring Boot development and production troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with NoSQL data modeling and integration with Spring Boot.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Java/Spring Boot microservices and REST APIs.
• Model, query, and optimize NoSQL data stores with Spring Boot apps.
• Troubleshoot production issues across app, DB, and integration layers; lead incident response.
• Contribute to system design decisions including hardware/software trade-offs.
• Write and maintain automated tests, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment artifacts; collaborate with DevOps teams.
• Review code, produce design docs, and mentor junior engineers.
