King County is seeking a Microsoft 365 Senior Engineer to serve as a senior technical resource for the Modern Workplace Team. The role focuses on administration, operation, and enhancement of the Microsoft 365 tenant across Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Viva modules, with emphasis on security, reliability, and performance.

Qualifications

• Senior-level expertise in Microsoft 365 workloads including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, and Viva modules.
• Strong scripting ability in PowerShell and Graph API to automate routines.
• Experience with security and compliance features such as Conditional Access and DLP.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level administration and operational support for the Microsoft 365 tenant (Exchange Online/On-Prem, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Viva modules, and related services).
• Maintain service health, apply updates, manage configurations, and enforce operational standards.
• Troubleshoot advanced multi-service incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with engineering peers to restore services.
• Support change management, test feature updates, assess impact, and document results for reliability.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and knowledge articles for M365 services.
• Automate routine tasks and workflows using PowerShell, Graph API, or other scripting tools.
• Lifecycle management for M365 services including license optimization and feature rollout planning.
• Support security, governance, and compliance requirements (MFA, DLP, eDiscovery) and ensure alignment with policies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to improve service delivery and reliability.
• Monitor capacity, performance, and usage trends and provide data-driven insights to leadership.
