Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS), a division of Amphenol Corporation, seeks an Advanced Microfabrication Technology Engineer to join our Etters, PA team. You will lead microfabrication and micro-assembly efforts for high-precision interconnect components and collaborate across R&D, NPI, and manufacturing to scale processes.

The role requires 5+ years in microfabrication, proficiency with lithography, micro-EDM, Laser micromachining, and solid modeling tools (Creo/SolidWorks/NX).

Qualifications

• 5+ years of microfabrication/micro-scale manufacturing experience.
• Experience with lithography/patterning, laser micromachining, micro-EDM, micro-stamping, electroforming/plating, and micro-injection molding.
• Ability to develop and qualify processes for very small components, including tolerance management and fixturing.
• Experience with joining and micro-assembly such as laser welding, micro-soldering, adhesives, crimping/swaging, and precision assembly.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, MATLAB) and statistical problem solving (DOE, capability, MSA).
• Familiarity with metrology techniques (optical microscopy, profilometry, SEM) and linking micro-scale variation to performance.
• Experience interfacing with suppliers/vendors to translate R&D into scalable production.
• Experience with solid modeling tools - Creo and/or SolidWorks and/or NX; collaborating with tooling/automation teams.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, develop, and optimize micro-fabrication processes for high-precision connectors and components.
• Lead lab and pilot-scale experiments to prototype emerging microfabrication technologies.
• Develop and qualify micro-assembly processes for very small parts including fixturing and alignment strategies.
• Define process windows and characterization plans (DOE, process maps, capability studies).
• Support metrology and characterization and correlate feature quality to performance and reliability.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for yield and reliability issues.
• Collaborate with Development, NPI, Signal and Mechanical Integrity teams to translate design needs into manufacturable solutions.
• Interface with suppliers and vendors to assess and transfer technologies to manufacturing.
