PriceSenz LLC is seeking an experienced researcher to support the DIR, NIAID, in Bethesda, MD. The role focuses on microbial ecology and next-generation sequencing to characterize microbiomes in health and disease, with hands-on DNA/RNA work and data interpretation.

Requires a Ph.D. in a scientific field (preferred) and 8+ years of relevant experience; Master’s degree also considered. The position includes mentoring, protocol optimization, and presenting findings at conferences.

Formación

• Master's degree in a scientific field.
• Ph.D. in scientific field preferred.
• Eight (8) + years in microbial ecology and next-generation sequencing.

Responsabilidades

• Supports the planning and execution of research experiments in the context of the laboratory's overall research program.
• Participate in team-based research aimed at characterizing the microbiome in healthy and diseased tissue.
• Develop, implement, maintain experiments; take tissue samples, isolate DNA/RNA, prepare them for analysis with the Miseq hardware from Illumina, and perform sequencing run.
• Maintains laboratory equipment and the training of others in their use.
• Interpret, evaluate, and discuss the results of each experiment with FTL and laboratory team as part of the planning process for subsequent studies.
• Design and work on necessary troubleshooting and protocol optimization.
• Presents research at national scientific meetings and symposia.
• Stay current with latest protocols, applications, scientific methodology, sample handling and processing relevant to Next Generation DNA sequencing technologies.
• Provides interpretation of results, guidance, and scientific support to the management team.
• Mentors junior level scientists.
• Provide products and documents related to tracking all samples within the BEI tracking system, and supporting analyses and other reports pertaining to sample processing.
