Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a Scientist/Clinician in Bethesda, MD to provide clinical microbiology oversight for NIH-related programs. The role includes teaching, supervising fellows, and developing tests for NIH protocols. A PhD or MD with board certification and a public trust are required, with up to 10% travel.

The successful candidate will mentor NIH fellows, collaborate with clinicians, and lead laboratory safety initiatives while directing resources to support patient care and research at NIH.

Qualifications

• Eight (8) years as a Scientist/Clinician with medical microbiology or clinical pathology experience.
• Experience translating scientific data into peer‑reviewed publications and teaching.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain a public trust.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical operational oversight and consultation for microbiology testing.
• Participate in clinical call responsibilities and teach during rounds.
• Oversee diagnostic/therapeutic test development for NIH protocols.
• Advise clinicians on interpretation of lab results.
• Manage financial and technical resources of the laboratory.
• Coordinate with section supervisors and mentor fellows.
