Job summary

Twenty-Six Defense seeks a Principal Metrology Engineer to lead advanced surface- characterization efforts. You will develop, operate, and interpret measurements from high-precision analytical tools across multiple programs and collaborate with R&D, product development, and manufacturing teams.

You will drive continuous improvement of metrology workflows, calibrations, and capability roadmaps while delivering clear documentation for internal and external partners.

Qualifications

• Hands-on proficiency with surface analysis tools (XPS/SEM/AFM/Auger/UPS/LEED/RHEED).
• Strong data analysis and interpretation of surface analysis results.
• Background in surface science, chemistry, or materials science.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and develop measurement protocols for surface analysis tools.
• Design and execute experiments to characterize materials, coatings, interfaces, and films.
• Analyze data and extract physical/chemical insights with rigorous interpretation.
• Document methods, results, and interpretations for stakeholders.
• Contribute to improvement of analytical workflows and software tooling.
• Evaluate and qualify new metrology equipment and software.
