Job description

Aerospace | $190K-$225K Base + Up to 30% Bonus + Long-Term Incentive

Take your metallurgy expertise to a much bigger platform.

What would you do if you had technical responsibility across three advanced aerospace manufacturing facilities?

We are working with a major global aerospace manufacturer looking for an experienced technical leader to oversee metallurgy, materials, laboratory and engineering activities across 3 facilities.

This is not a traditional Metallurgist or Quality role. You will be the senior technical authority across the three sites, helping shape manufacturing processes, technical standards, new product introduction, equipment qualification and customer requirements, while ensuring the operation continues to meet the necessary ISO 9001 and quality standards.

The technical challenge

The organisation manufactures highly engineered materials and components for demanding aerospace and turbine applications, working with advanced materials and processes including nickel-based superalloys, titanium, powder metallurgy, vacuum-melt atomization and isothermal forging.

Your experience will be used to:
  • Drive improvements in yield, quality and process consistency
  • Reduce scrap, NCRs and process variation
  • Lead new product introduction and technical development
  • Qualify and implement new equipment and manufacturing processes
  • Develop and standardise technical procedures across multiple facilities
  • Support ISO 9001 requirements, audits and continuous improvement
  • Act as a senior technical contact for customers and regulatory/government organisations
  • Bring engineering, quality, operations and metallurgy teams together to solve complex problems

The role gives you genuine visibility across the wider organisation. You will work with senior leadership, customers and cross-functional teams and have the opportunity to influence technical strategy across multiple sites.

Who we're looking for

We are interested in experienced technical leaders with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Materials Engineering or a related field
  • Master's degree in Materials Science is highly preferred
  • 10-15+ years of relevant metallurgy/materials experience
  • Strong powder metallurgy experience
  • Aerospace experience, ideally involving advanced alloys
  • Experience with nickel-based superalloys strongly preferred
  • Titanium and/or forging experience is beneficial
  • Previous leadership responsibility across metallurgy, materials, laboratory or engineering
  • Experience working within ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems
  • Experience with audits, procedures, corrective actions and continuous improvement
  • Strong manufacturing process improvement experience
  • The ability to communicate complex technical issues to customers, engineers, operations and senior leadership

You don't necessarily need to already be a Technical Director. A strong Metallurgy Manager, Materials Engineering Manager, Principal Metallurgist or similar technical leader could be a very good fit.

Why consider it?

This is an opportunity to step beyond the technical responsibility of a single facility and influence three operations.

You will be working with advanced aerospace materials and processes, leading experienced technical functions and having a direct impact on manufacturing performance, product quality and customer delivery.

The package reflects the level of responsibility:

  • Up to 30% executive bonus
  • Long-Term Incentive Program
  • 120 hours PTO
  • 10 paid holidays
  • Medical, dental and vision
  • 401(k)
  • Relocation assistance available
  • Approximately 25% travel between facilities.

If you're an experienced metallurgy/materials leader looking for broader technical responsibility within a major aerospace manufacturing environment, I'd be interested in speaking with you confidentially.
