Baker Hughes is seeking a Senior Metallurgical Engineer for Completions & Well Intervention in Houston, TX. The role focuses on metallurgy, corrosion mitigation, and materials selection for downhole equipment, providing technical leadership and mentoring to a team of metallurgists.

The incumbent will collaborate with engineering, operations, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal requirements, while developing testing specs and qualifications

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical-related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in metallurgy within the oil and gas industry.
• Experience supporting downhole completions, well intervention, fishing, or related equipment.
• Strong knowledge of metallic materials used in oilfield applications (carbon steels, stainless steels, CRAs).
• Experience in metallurgical failure analysis and providing improvement guidance.
• Strong analytical, communication, and technical report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead metallurgical and corrosion engineering resource for completions, well intervention, and fishing tool product lines.
• Provide guidance on material selection, heat treatment, manufacturing, welding, and corrosion mitigation for downhole applications.
• Support Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Product Line Management with metallurgical expertise.
• Lead metallurgical evaluations of product performance, field failures, and supplier quality concerns.
• Develop corrective and preventive actions and conduct root-cause analyses.
• Develop and approve metallic material specifications and engineering standards.
• Act as the primary technical contact for metallurgical discussions with customers and suppliers.
• Mentor junior metallurgists and engineers; develop training materials.
