Baker Hughes is seeking a Senior Metallurgical Engineer in Houston to act as the subject matter expert for metallic materials selection, corrosion evaluation, and metallurgical performance across completions and well intervention tools.
The role requires deep oilfield metallurgy expertise, collaboration across functions, mentoring of junior engineers, and leadership in material qualification and standards development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of metallurgy experience in oil and gas.
- Experience with downhole completions, well intervention, fishing or related oilfield equipment.
- Strong analytical and technical report writing skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead metallurgical evaluations of product performance, field failures, and supplier quality concerns.
- Provide guidance on material selection, heat treatment, welding and corrosion mitigation for downhole tools.
- Mentor junior metallurgists and engineers; develop training materials and technical tools.
- Interface with customers, suppliers and internal partners on metallurgical issues and standards.
