Job summary

Barnes & Noble Education (BNED) seeks a Sr. Merchandise Manager in Florham Park, NJ to lead merchandising strategy and end-to-end lifecycle across categories. You will oversee assortments, pricing, promotions, and vendor partnerships while driving sales growth and profitability in a hybrid role.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize inventory, forecast demand, and execute strategic initiatives aligned with store and digital channels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Retail Management, Marketing, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 8–10 years of progressive merchandising, buying, or category management experience in an omnichannel retail environment.
• Strong financial, analytical, and strategic business acumen.
• Leadership experience coaching and developing teams in a cross-functional setting.
• Ability to travel to stores, vendor meetings, and events as needed.

Responsibilities

• Own the overall business strategy and financial performance for assigned merchandise categories.
• Develop assortments, pricing, promotions, and go-to-market plans across channels.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Digital, Store Ops, Finance, and Inventory.
• Negotiate vendor agreements and manage supplier partnerships for value.
• Monitor performance and adjust strategies to hit sales and margin goals.
• Coach and develop a high-performing team of Buyers and Assistant Buyers.
